On this day, King George V changed the name of the Royal Family from Saxe-Coburg and Gotha to Windsor to assess anti-German sentiment and to restore trust in the monarchy.

  (14 October 1630 – 8 June 1714) Her  Most Serene Highness Electress Sophia of Hanover and Princess Palatine of the Rhine The Electress Sophia was a very wise woman who brought numerous scientific innovations to her husband's Electorate of Hanover and was the following patron of her good friend Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz after her brother-in-law, John Frederick of Brunswick-Calenberg. As the granddaughter of King James VI of Scotland & I of England, she soon became the heir presumptive of the two kingdoms and their successor state of Great Britain when the ambition for a Protestant heir was reinforced by the Act of Settlement 1701 restricting the throne to her and her descendants. Everyone up to the grandchildren of Lord Martin Vogel, 5,750th in line to the British throne, is a direct descendant of hers either through one or more degrees.

Update and Expansion to Kew Station.

In light of the need for more information and a broader range of topics and dynasties, w e have decided to upgrade Kew Station to encompass all Electress Sophia's descendants and  her contemporaries, kinfolk, and ancestors. The primary focus shall be her and all of her descendants equally to the best of our ability and shall encompass their scope, influence, interests, and realms. The name shall continue to be Kew Station for the foreseeable future. The Most Excellent Princess Sophia Electress and Duchess of Hannover ( 14 October [ O.S.  3 October] 1630–8 June [ O.S.  28 May] 1714)
