King Ernest Augustus I

King Ernest-Augustus I of Hanover, Duke of Cumberland and Teviotdale
(6/5/1771 - 11/18/1851)

King Ernst-August I of Hanover was the fifth son of King George III and Queen Charlotte. After two of his brothers passed, he inherited the Hanoverian cradle of his family.

King Ernst-August, like his father, had strong views on the importance of a monarch and the role they should play in their countries which gave him an absolutist image in the modern world that does not deserve the criticism but further understanding.

He unlike most of his siblings valued his parents' strict morals and regulations which he adopted in his careers as Royal Prince & Peer of Great Britain and Ireland then King of Hannover.
