Electress Sophia of Hanover (POS. Queen Sophia of Great Britain)

(14 October 1630 – 8 June 1714)
Her Most Serene Highness Electress Sophia of Hanover and Princess Palatine
of the Rhine

The Electress Sophia was a very wise woman who brought numerous scientific innovations to her husband's Electorate of Hanover and was the following patron of her good friend Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz after her brother-in-law, John Frederick of Brunswick-Calenberg. As the granddaughter of King James VI of Scotland & I of England, she soon became the heir presumptive of the two kingdoms and their successor state of Great Britain when the ambition for a Protestant heir was reinforced by the Act of Settlement 1701 restricting the throne to her and her descendants. Everyone up to the grandchildren of Lord Martin Vogel, 5,750th in line to the British throne, is a direct descendant of hers either through one or more degrees.

Happy Belated Birthday to His Royal Highness, Prince Edward Duke of York and Albany!

His Royal Highness Prince Edward, Duke of York and Albany

(25 March 1739-17 September 1767)

Prince Edward was the third child and second son of Frederick Louis, Prince of Wales and his wife, Princess Augusta of Saxe-Gotha. Despite being his mother's favourite, he was his older brother, the future King George's constant companion before they had a rift a few years before Edward died. He was an experienced naval officer, one of the first royal Freemasons after his father, and a most popular figure in London's society. He died in self-exile in the Princely Palace of Monaco before he was buried in Westminster Abbey with several of his relations.

Frederick Louis: An Ethical Monody

 Here Lies Fritz,

A champion for the rights of all,

Soul neglected by those who did not see much in him,

His fire shall never burn out or fall,

Like the rest of his family, he was blessed by this nation which accepted with open arms,

It is not only Britannia who mourns his casualty but his dear widow and offspring too,

May he forever rest in peace.

His Most Gracious Majesty King George III of the United Kingdom of Great Britain, Ireland and Hanover

King George III

Our model paragon.
The reason why we have chosen him is that he has been our inspiration for many years. His abhorrence of decadence, his sense of piety, his lifestyle regulation and routine has inspired us to be our very best.
Much maligned like most truly good people are, his story opened our eyes to how things cannot be judged at first glance.

His birthday is celebrated by this group: May 24th by the Old Style Calendar, June 4th by the New Style Calendar.

He and his family which are the focus of this blog will be discussed frequently with other topics relating to them.

We advise you that since this is a blog in his honour, you must be respectful to him!

The Life Anniversaries and Milestones of him, his fifteen children, consort, few forefathers, paramount allies, and his general reign shall also be observed.

On another topic, we are entertained by his rather enjoyable punctuations of "What, What" and "Hey, Hey" at the end of his sentences.
