Transferred Posts (Dominion-Department)

To increase productivity, our child site Dominion Department has made a thorough and thoughtful decision to merge with us and become a sectional segment.

Below this line are the transferred (archived) posts from it. Several were unfinished due to numerous reasons, mostly timely and others intended to be short to some effect. Also, everything was of course written in the past tense. Also do note that reliable sources were limited to us at the time, so improvising had been undertaken. Some had to be made into miniature biographical posts.

Finally, on this site, we will make more detailed and more useful posts acting as better conduits of information to all our readers.

There is no finer example of duty, loyalty, conviviality, and spirit than the personage of His late Royal Highness of esteemed memory. A King among Princes, a leader to spur the faithless, a paragon of the ideal lifestyle of the Commonwealth.

On behalf of our other blogs, organizations and associates, we send our condolences to Her Majesty the Queen, her family, all their beloved friends, and the Commonwealth itself.

A happy 137th birthday to Princess Alice. Mother of the late Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh and mother-in-law to Queen Elizabeth II!

HRH Princess Victoria Alice Elizabeth Julia Marie of Greece and Denmark née Battenberg

(2/2/1885 - 12/5/1969)

Princess Alice was born in Windsor Castle as the eldest child to Prince Louis of Battenberg and Princess Victoria of Hesse and by Rhine, who in turn was a matrilineal granddaughter of Queen Victoria via her mother also Princess Alice. She soon married Prince Andrew of Greece and Denmark and had six children: five daughters and one son. Unfortunately, this peace was disputed by the Greco-Turkish War of 1919-22 which forced the family to flee Greece. The stress of this soon overwhelmed Princess Alice to near hysterics which soon led her to be unjustly sent to a mental asylum for two and a half years. Once she recovered, she dedicated her life to one of charity and faith which she soon established the Sisterhood of Martha and Mary in Greece. However, during the Greek Junta, she was invited by her son Prince Philip and daughter-in-law Queen Elizabeth II to reside in Buckingham Palace where she passed peacefully.

Tribute to Her Late Majesty: 9/8/22

 Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

(April 21, 1926 - September 8, 2022)
Her Royal Highness Princess Elizabeth Alexandra Mary of York was born on April 21, 1926, in No. 17 Bruton St, Mayfair, London. Her parents were Prince Albert Frederick Arthur George [second son of King George V and Queen Mary], and Elizabeth Angela Marguerite Bowes-Lyon [youngest daughter of the Earl and Countess of Strathmore], the Duke and Duchess of York. She had only one sibling, a younger sister named Princess Margaret Rose. The two princesses led a sheltered but fruitful life, and her parents held a strong interest in her childhood. Both sisters were homeschooled but had a well-rounded education due to them being the first princesses to study science and arithmetic in a few generations. Apart from some press instructions and unwarranted actions by some of the staff, their childhood was idyllic. However, this all changed slowly as her grandfather King George V became ill. Then relations between the King and nearly all his children were fair except with his eldest son Edward Albert Christian George Andrew Patrick David, the Prince of Wales.  When the King died, Elizabeth became second in line to the throne, but her destiny was to change again. The new king Edward VIII loathed his duties and responsibilities even as a prince, but his relationship with Bessie Wallis Simpson, a twice-divorced actress from New York City made things worse to the point where he chose to abdicate. Finally, her father became King George VI unexpectedly, but he became a beacon for his family and country in the coming tumultuous years. The Princess married her love Philip Mountbatten, Duke of Edinburgh, Earl of Merioneth, Baron Greenwich RN originally His Royal Highness Prince Philippos of Greece and Denmark in 1947. Their son Charles Philip Arthur George was born a year later as well as Anne Elizabeth Alice Louise their only daughter a year after him.  But it all came apart when her father the king died on February 6, 1952. During the said year the now Queen Elizabeth II finally returned from a royal visit to Kenya which was part of a tour across the Commonwealth of Nations which she was now the Head of after her father's passing. The Queen now spent the coming years giving members of her family new roles to perform and endlessly kept hard in her own.  Numerous scandals and times of turbulence have come her way and almost broke the resolve of her family, but she held them forward and was their beacon. Opinions have changed but she was permanent. She was our world's strongest force and what held us together from Canada to the Cook Islands. Her husband passed last year ending 73 years of marriage which was demonstrably devastating but she held on for as long as she could. And we have no words or actions to thank her for what she has given us. From hope, stability, loyalty, peace and much more.

God Bless You Ma'am and may he keep you safe in Heaven forever! Thank you for everything!

Her Most Serene Highness Electress Sophia of Hanover and Princess Palatine
of the Rhine

The Electress Sophia was a very wise woman who brought numerous scientific innovations to her husband's Electorate of Hanover and was the following patron of her good friend Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz after her brother-in-law, John Frederick of Brunswick-Calenberg. As the granddaughter of King James VI of Scotland & I of England, she soon became the heir presumptive of the two kingdoms and their successor state of Great Britain when the ambition for a Protestant heir was reinforced by the Act of Settlement 1701 restricting the throne to her and her descendants. Everyone up to the grandchildren of Lord Martin Vogel, 5,750th in line to the British throne, is a direct descendant of hers either through one or more degrees.
