 Happy 286th Birthday to King George III   On this day in the year 1738 (May 24 O.S.), a prince with a vision for morality, steadfastness, and diligence was born. In a family shouldered with duty, linked to all preceding dynasties in their island's history and continental equivalents, he understood the burden he had to carry all his life to the point of immense exaction and self-deprecation. He lived a pious and uxorious life, breaking with the conventions of immorality and debauchery, and guided his family towards a respectable life, which was wrongly rebuffed as a result of indolence. Practised agriculture with a passion and allowed science to be discovered without defying the guidelines of the Church. He was entirely mindful of his royal prerogatives and used them justly when the situation demanded.
